Event information
After obtaining a BA in Arts (Hons in Anthropology) and Law at the University of Western Australia, Ms Linton completed articles and started work as a lawyer at the Director of Public Prosecutions (WA) as a Professional Assistant to the then Director of Public Prosecutions, John McKechnie QC in 1995. She transitioned to a role as a Crown Prosecutor, with brief secondments to the Coroner's Court of Western Australia as Counsel Assisting and a year at Victoria Legal Aid.
Ms Linton was a foundation member of the ODPP Appeals Team and was a Senior State Prosecutor in that role when she was appointed as a Magistrate and Coroner in November 2013. In 2021 she was appointed as the Deputy State Coroner and, since May 2025, Ms Linton has been performing the role of Acting State Coroner. In her time as a Coroner, her Honour has conducted more than 200 public inquests, as well as completing thousands of administrative cases. Many of these matters involve people with psychiatric conditions and complex mental health and social issues, including persons receiving involuntary treatment under the Mental Health Act 2014 (WA).
